Chapter 16

 Thousand and one Truths

French version

Our travellers had traversed many regions on our planet of the third millenium (Christian). If Martin, the eternal sceptic, had hardly been disappointed by the awaited behaviors of the human groups that they had visited (tribes, nations and other ethnic groups), our two unvarying optimists Candide and his good tutor Pangloss, pained to find at the 6th millenium (Hebraic) the smooth universe of the best of the possible worlds of their master Leibniz.

After their numerous peregrinations, Fortunate Bigboss had confronted them with the illusory certainty of the phantasmagoric universes of the researchers in advanced cosmology.

"Today, he explained to them, we live at the century of universalization, in all the fields, trades, fast transports, immediate communications per numerous media, telephones and faxs, television, Internet, etc... It is the same for all the psychological and intellectual behaviors (ways of life, opinions or knowledges). Now, if you agree, we will alternate our geographical routes with incursions in the heart of the innumerable beliefs which allure our contemporaries, as we could note it with the congress of advanced cosmology ".

All spontaneously accepted, with much curiosity.

Martin: "According to what we observed up to now, the major part of humanity does not live precisely in unconcern. Rather in what one names the stress. More half of humans are going hungry. They run, painfully, after their daily subsistence and that of their family. Other half, satiated in its primary needs, is bored or worries. No one is not satisfied with its fate. Famished or satiated ".

Fortunate Bigboss: "It is well the reason for which the human ones try, frantically, to insure themselves against all the risks of the life and even, possibly, against death: automobile accidents, falls of hair, losses of incomes, losses of affection, missed holidays, fires, insomnia, body disappearance, unforeseen, if not foreseeable funerals... "

Martin: " To crown it all, they invented the Welfare state whose essential function is to assume, for its nationals, all the risks of the existence, from birth to death. The existence at the zero risk ".

Candide: "And for the stress? "

Martin: " The sects, of course ! "

Fortunate Bigboss: " Fortunately, one counts the innumerable ones! From tiny sects to gigantic sects established on all the globe. Thus, for example, the Japanese are likely to count not less than 160.000 small groups on their premises ".

Our travellers, being abundantly documented, could indeed check the existence of a multitude of sects. The humans have happiness to profit from such a plethora of sects that they can choose sects proposing of the more picturesque or more imaginative beliefs the ones than the others. All the tastes are satisfied: esotericism, occultism, astrologism, Islamic, Christian or Buddhist diverticula, predictive, predicative, vindicatory, demanding, lax... Each one can find its happiness there.

Candide was very impressed by Raelians, their familiarity with the extraterrestrial ones, the elohims, and the supreme skill of their juggling acts in their exclusively media clonings.

"From which planet do they come" was questioned it ?

Martin, imperturbable: "Probably of the nearest galaxy, Andromede".

Pangloss: "By which means do they travel? "

Martin: "By quantum teleportation undoubtedly".

Pangloss and Candide " What does this mean ? "

Martin: "Nothing can limit the capacity of imaginary".

Pangloss: "Splendid absolute power of the thought! "

Martin admired the creativity of the Mormons: "For them, the immense efforts made by the men to put foot on the moon in 1969 were a simple wasting. The Mormons know, since strong a long time, that the moon has inhabitants of 1 m, 85 top which goes on the moon and live 1.000 years ".

Pangloss: "Were their assertions checked? "

Martin: "Any checking is superfluous and even disagreeable. It is necessary only for men without any imagination ".

Candide concludes: "It is well-known that the near total of the men has an abundant imagination".

Fortunate Bigboss estimated particularly the tenacity of Moons: "They are very obstinate people. They do not cease repairing the repeated failures of God: failure of the garden of Eden, failure of Jesus to establish the Kingdom of God on earth, etc... They have the conviction to succeed there, them! Really what an obstinacy! "

Pangloss was not insensitive to the immense merits of the Witnesses of Jehovah: "In spite of the rapacity of the justice which prosecutes them without a break, they managed to constitute a considerable inheritance. In spite of their slanderers who denounce their erroneous predictions many and many times, in 1876, 1903, 1914, the ignored presence of Jesus on our earth since 1874, etc..., they continue to advance predictions which are revealed always infallibly distorted. Without never being disturbed. What an admirable courage ! "

Pangloss set a high value on the piety of the Hare Krishna which, from the dawn to the twilight, chant with enthusiasm 1728 songs every day! "

The tolerance of New Age, which accepts all personal fulfillment, and its neo-spiritualism, with its medical, metaphysical even political drifts, was completely in phase with the unwavering optimistic vision of the universe of Pangloss and Candide.

One of most brilliant contemporary successes was that of the "Church" of Scientology which, in a few decades, succeeded in recruiting 11 million followers in more than one hundred countries. With its 10.224 permanent employees and its troops of voluntary ones, the successors of Lafayette-Ronald Hubbard can claim and claim with a true statute of new Church. The creed of the founder of this new natural and not revealed religion and its belief in a basically good man, although too often contradicted by an unpleasant topicality, was extremely appropriate to our two optimists.

Pangloss was suddenly questioned: "Which is the difference between all these sects and the great religions which reign as masters today over our earth, Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Confucianism ? "

Martin: "A sect is a start-up of the religion. If it succeeds, it becomes a religion. A religion which fails loses its statute and becomes again a sect. If a belief has only one weak share of the religious market, it is only one sect. If it gains a significant part of the religious market, it is promoted religion ".

Candide: "There is thus no difference in nature between sect and religion? "

Martin: "Absolutely none. A religion is only one sect which succeeded. A sect is only one religion which fell through. In any case, all the sects have an extraordinary know-how ".

Pangloss: "Which? "

Martin: "They excel relieving their followers of all money worries by stripping them skilfully, by tested methods, of all their goods".

Fortunate Bigboss: "The great religions also evolve ".

Martin: "Naturally. Thus, Buddhism regresses. Christianity also in advanced Europe. On the other hand, it thrives in the C.W.D. (country in way development) like the Latin America. More the men have the D.C.S. (developed critical spirit) more the religions regress. More they have the D.C.S.W.D.(developed critical spirit in way development) more the religions thrive. Just as the sects "

Pangloss: "But with the D.C.S., the stress of the life increases. Which remedy bring the men there? "

Martin: "The movement in process of expansion of the D.C.S., it is a sect which thrives in occident and which, I am convinced by it, will be the new triumphing church perhaps tomorrow, the Psychological Church in all its states: psychoanalysts resulting from Freud and all its successors, Jung, Adler, Reich, Marcuse and other Lacan, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, neuropsychologists, neuropsychiatrists, neurotherapists, pedopsychiatrists, pedopsychologists, pedotherapists, geriapsychiatrists, geriapsychologists, geriatherapists, deliquentpsychiatrists, deliquentpsychologists, deliquentherapists, accidentpsychiatrists, accidentpsychologists, accidenttherapists, seismicpsychiatrists, seismicpsychologists, seismictherapists, omnipsychiatrists, omnipsychologists, omnipsychotherapists.... deviantologists, psychologists of crisis, nologists and thousand other logists ".

Candide: "Will the sect of the psy and the logists be thus the future of our planet? "

Martin: "Which can know? "
